I’m sat here with the Adele blasting out of the cd player to drown out the sound of the wind and rain outside. Today we have 80mph forecast for the afternoon. At the moment it is a mere 65mph and its making my house shake when the gusts blow up the valley. I have a plant nursery on the west coast of Wales and we are used to big winds but this is the worst i have known it in the 22 years I have lived here. As you can see from these pics taken out of my windows we are exposed to whatever mother nature has in store for us.
This one is taken to the south where the land drops to an uninhabited valley which floods every year . Its a joy to watch as the birds fly in to make the most of it each winter. The level changes each day as it gets wider more birds move in..
I’m sure they have some kind of beakbook so they know when it floods…lol
It’s truly amazing watching them come in in the afternoon.
We even seem to have 2 swans moved into the flooding..
This one is taken facing west with a telephoto lens…we are about a mile up the valley from the beach. Its a view i enjoy each day but today I have decided to write this blog to stop me looking out the window worrying about the force of the wind.
Last weeks wind brought huge waves we decided to go look at them from a safe distance.
This was from on top of the hill leading down to the beach
There is a memorial to those lost at sea positioned at the top.
It was so windy we were hanging on to the fence enjoying playing around in the wind…:-)
The force was awesome…but this was only around 40 mph I don’t think we would be able to stand there today…
Then it was off to get a little closer…
I was amazed to see how much foam was being blown off the beach. It looked like snow floating on the wind.
I have never seen it like this…and was amazed at how deep the foam was…
I couldn’t stand there long as my face and glasses were getting covered in the foam…
Back home I have spent the week watching my poor polytunnel how it has coped this far I don’t know…I just hope it hangs on through this today as its full of my succulents and my tomato seeds..
It deserves a medal for still being there…really worried this will be its last pic…time will tell..
this is what’s inside..
They have really enjoyed the mild winter but need the cover of the tunnel till the spring has sprung.
Thank you for reading my blog..hope you are staying safe from the wind and flood..Sandra
