*** All photographs taken at Corseside Nursery in Pembrokeshire
This listing is for a small bag of Echium seeds. The bags contain well over 25 seeds but we don’t count them in to an exact number. The seeds were harvested in late summer 2023 from our very tallest flower head. It was 19ft tall from plant base to tip!
The plants in our Nursery are 10th generation Pembrokeshire ‘self-seeders’. They survived the -8 that we got here in December 2022. Take a look at the frost covered Echium pictured above! (but please be aware that location is everything!). Echiums enjoy a sunny spot in soil that has good drainage. In most parts of the UK they will need frost protection.
The flowers attract the most magnificent number of bees and other pollinators and have been naturally pollinated in our garden. The Echiums we have are varying in shades of blue and purple. The pictures in this listing are the mother plants in our garden to give you a good idea of colour and size.
Echium Pininana is an impressive giant of a plant that will give any garden a tropical vibe. They are biennial, meaning that they don’t tend to flower in their first year of growth. However, once you get one plant to flower, you will have Echium babies coming out of your ears!!
Nature has been germinating seedlings all over our garden since September (It’s October at the time of writing and they’re still cropping up everywhere!). That being said, early Spring is a really good time to get them sown if you don’t want to worry about over-wintering them in their first year.
We will include a little growing guide with your seed order to get you started but please know we’re always on the other end of the phone or an email if you get stuck.
*Please note that orders are dispatched weekly so depending on when you order, it may take up to 1 week for dispatch.
Seed orders will be sent via Second Class Royal Mail.
Thanks for looking, the Corseside Crew
