A very unique kind of ‘Ice plant’ succulent native to South Africa with the most fascinating hairy foliage. It is a succulent in disguise as a cactus! Unlike many cactus spines, the hairs on this foliage are soft to the touch even though they look spikey.
This Trichodiadema has gorgeous rich pink/purple flowers that bloom in mid summer. We see flowers even on the youngest plug plants so you don’t have to wait years and years to get this wonderful display. This variety offshoots very readily to form many short branches. We have found it tolerates the cold fairly well. In a sunny spot with good drainage, it is happy down to -4 outside.
Trichodiadema tolerates sun and semi-shade well.
