This listing is for a well-rooted, potted Senecio Curio Articulatus grown in locally sources, organic, peat-free compost at Corseside Nursery in Pembrokeshire. The plants are availble as well rooted plug modules or larger potted plants. (approx. 3″ diameter pots).

Senecio Curio Articulatus, otherwise known as the ‘Candle Plant’ or ‘Hot Dog Cactus’ is one of our most curious and fascinating succulents. It has very distinct grey chunky stems that resemble candlesticks. The stems have beautiful distinct patterns in darker shades all over them that deepen to a purple with lost of sun exposure. In the winter months, the Candle Plant sprouts lots of leafy growth that is absolutely fascinating to watch develop. You can also expect dainty white flowers to appear during the winter growth months. In the summer months, it tends to loose it’s leaves and retreat to a dormant state. *Please note that if purchasing in the UK summer months, it’s likely your candle stick succulent will be chunky stems only* – I will add some summer pictures of the plants as they change in the coming months.

The Candle Plant is a very low growing, spreading succulent that would make an wonderfully interesting ground cover or a statement in a pot of it’s own. It grows in the most deranged fashion. It will spread to form a mound of alien-like tentacles if given the space. The candle plant would enjoy life in a semi-shade to full sun in a pot or succulent bed with good drainage.
